For the third time, Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Chapter 166 of Hartford, Connecticut, has been selected to award a $10,000 Ray Aviation Scholarship. The Ray Aviation Scholarship program, administered by the EAA in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, provides up to $10,000 scholarships to young people who want to learn to fly. Local EAA chapters like ours are responsible for identifying youth for the Ray Aviation Scholarship program and mentoring them through flight training.
Since its introduction in 2019, the EAA Ray Aviation Scholarship program has allowed over 174 young people to complete their flight training and receiving their pilot licenses. In 2019, Chapter 166 awarded a Ray Scholarship to Daniel Royer. He became a pilot within a year. In 2021, Cheyenne Fuoco was selected, and she has already nearly completed her training to earn her FAA Private Pilot Certificate.
Are you between the ages of 15 and 19? Would you like to become a pilot? Do you want a $10,000 scholarship that will pay most of the costs of getting a Private Pilot Certificate?
